This template converts the findings of the Crosswalk Project's open-access research into a ready-to-adopt organizational policy. The research (Module 1) mapped the thirteen obligations of the international
humanitarian sector's safeguarding standard — the IASC Six Core Principles Relating to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse — against United States law, and found that no obligation is covered by a requirement of general application that both reaches nonprofits as a class and protects the people they serve. This policy is built to close that gap at the organizational level, using design requirements derived directly from the research: it is beneficiary-facing, preventive, portable across service areas, specified at the operational level, and anchored in board-level accountability.
Saba Gul is the Founder of the U.S. Nonprofit Safeguarding Crosswalk Project, an independent, open-access research program that maps international safeguarding standards against United States law and translates the findings into practical tools for domestic nonprofit organizations. A legal and policy researcher, she holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Corporate Law and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), with coursework in organizational governance, institutional compliance, and risk management.
Her professional experience spans protection roles in humanitarian refugee operations, with previous positions including Senior Project Assistant for the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP), Protection Associate with the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM), and PSEA Focal Person on a UNHCR-funded project, alongside work with GIZ.
